After settling for some time in my stressful days, I couldn't help but think of what had happened in our annual intramurals. And it has been a fun week preparing for it actually, and everybody never thought that it was that near.
As of a few days before our awaited activity , those were the unusual days.......
I glanced at what was happening outside the classroom and was astonished for I had seen some people play kinds of sports like badminton, sepak ,and volleyball. It seemed like a paradise to see people happy and active while playing sports with their friends. I felt the enthusiastic welcome of my schoolmates to our intramurals.
I tried to join my friends in playing badminton because i felt the urge to feel challenge and excitement. And as why playmate serves the ball, the game began and it went on and on and on! By using all my senses and focusing, I was able to play that game satisfyingly. (But of course we all know of our limits so at either one time or another I had to stop playing.) But thinking of it generally, we happily played games and at the same time we had already practiced our body.
But moving on.............
then the rain stopped and we immediately resumed class after that. I could feel the intense atmosphere on the classroom i am attending on as classmates talked and practiced about the upcoming activity. I can't help but feel fear at those times. But then the next thing I knew was standing in-front of people as me (as an emcee) and my co-emcee introduce the very first programs in our most awaited event for this month. The first programs for the first day was our mass dance and our mr and ms. physique. followed by the games like basketball, volleyball, chess, and etc.
here are some pictures of the yellow cardinal's contestants in diff. programs:
this is yellow cardinal's (grade 8) mr and ms physique
followed by our mass danceand these, are the some of the crowning jewels of the yellow cardinals. But it does not stop there.
we have our athletes play different kinds of games. and as i observe them to their best, i cheered and yelled our team name, yellow cardinals. until, the time has come to do my duty as an athlete in the game chess.
I remembered asking one of my teammates who told me that it's time to go which was maysa that ''talaga? as in ngayon na?'' because I was so nervous at that time. and as I walked, I glared into my teammates czerielle mangalindan, kristel chua , and maysa cayas who were walking towards the venue. Deep inside of me, i thought that what happened was really funny because it seems like we're going inside a battle, more or less, a war. Then we reached our venue, which was the physics room and did our work. We won after defeating the green tamaraws for the first round and been the champion after beating the blue falcons in the championship round. We rejoiced a little but we also congratulated the other athletes that had done their best and after that, we were free. Free to cheer, observe and get excitement from the games that are left until the second day. the second day of our intramurals was also the last day. it is the continuation of the games and the awarding ceremony.
on the half of the day stood the crowd, cheering and shouting for their teams. We all did. We never left our team's side. but on behalf of that came a flashback on my mind: what is intramurals really?
I thought that intramurals was just the competition of the types of games we play. But i was proven wrong. Intramurals for me is now the unity of the team. it is the coordination , discipline ,sportsmanship to each other. Because the moment when i watched those games that our teams play, i felt invulnerable, and unstoppable. Seeing those people i know do their best right there was a sight that i never wanted to forget.
Then the awards came and I saw our achievements:

and for me, it was heartmelting.
It was the best intramurals yet, IT IS THE INTRAMURALS 2013-2014

Go Gwen! :)
